The 2013 Industry Get-Together of the Independent Performing Arts Community

25. October 2013 - 27. October 2013

The 2013 Industry Get-Together of the Independent Performing Arts Community

Develop strategies, share knowledge, meet colleagues - the first-ever Get-Together of the Independent Performing Arts Industry was held under this motto from October 25-27, 2013 at Dock 11 Eden***** in Berlin. The stated goal of the Get-Together was to give all members of the community the opportunity to inform themselves of new developments, discuss current questions and lay the foundations for constant networking and collaboration uncomplicatedly and efficiently in direct contact with each other.

With more than 300 participants, the first Get-Together exceeded all expectations. The overwhelming response to the events showed that their contents spoke to real needs of the community and that there is a large demand for networking forums such as the Get-Together, said Janina Benduski, Director of the Performing Arts Program.

Over the course of three days, a total of 24 events were held at Dock 11 Eden*****,including panel discussions, lectures, open space formats, work groups and discussions with experts. More than 60 speakers contributed to the wide-ranging schedule of events.

Alongside a focus on virulent culture policy questions, the discussions and lectures dealt with diverse aspects of working in the field of the independent performing arts such as self-marketing strategies, the working and living conditions of the "creative class", infrastructures or the opportunities for international producing.

The 2013 Get-Together of the Independent Performing Arts Industry was an event held by Landesverband freie darstellende Künste Berlin, Zeitgenössischer Tanz Berlin, Tanzbüro Berlin, Dachverband Tanz Deutschland and Bundesverband Freier Theater.
